beneficiaries and 1,033,896
community people as indirect
beneficiaries.
Objectives: Ensuring minimum six
doses of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to
all newborn children of ADRA adopted
areas within first year of age, help
ensuring OPV delivery to all
children (0-5 years), during
national and Sub-National
Immunization Days, Helping,
maintaining and increasing RI
coverage (0-1 years), providing
possible assistance to the polio
affected children, of 0-15 years
age, and supporting community
mobilization activities.
Activities: Networking with other
stakeholders, organizing social
mobilization activities and
awareness campaigns, organizing
health camps and routine
immunization camps in high
risk and hard to reach areas,
providing support to the government
in identifying missed out children, indentifying and mobilizing leaders
and people from political,
educational, institutional, and
religious backgrounds. Ensuring
routine immunization by new born
tracking, and educating mothers
about the importance of routine
immunization, working with disabled
children, and capacity building of
volunteers, community based
organizations and NGO partners.
Expected Outcomes: Average eight doses of Oral
Polio Vaccine (OPV) to all newborn children of
ADRA adopted areas within first year of age have
been ensured in all ADRA adopted areas, OPV
delivery to all children (0-5 years) was ensured
during National and Sub-National Immunization
Days, stop transmission status of Wild Polio
Virus (WPV) type-1 was achieved and is
maintained, WPV type-3 transmission is
controlled, RI coverage (0-2 years) was helped
maintained, and increased. Full immunization coverage was improved from 22%
to 32.67% in all ADRA adopted areas, BCG
coverage was improved from 45% to 65% and DPT
III coverage was improved from 40% to 60%,
possible assistance to the polio affected
children of 0-15 years age was given, 184 polio
affected children have been received apertures
and disability certificates from government
department and Rotary International. 267 parents
have been counseled for taking care of a polio
affected child. Community mobilization
activities have been supported.
